Liposuction Procedure
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure that removes fat from specific areas of the body. During the procedure, a small tube connected to a suction machine is inserted after making an incision in a designated area, and fat is extracted. This procedure can be applied to various body parts, including the neck, abdomen, back, face, breasts, and thighs. It is recommended to seek qualified doctors before undergoing this procedure.
Types of Liposuction
There are three different types of liposuction procedures:
- Traditional Liposuction: This method uses a solid hollow device resembling a pen.
- Laser Liposuction: This technique dissolves fat using laser before removing it through suction. It also stimulates collagen production, which can tighten the skin.
- Ultrasound Liposuction: In this method, ultrasound waves are used to dissolve fat. This technique is more commonly used than laser liposuction, even though fat cells respond better to laser energy.
Note: It is essential to inject anesthetics into the area where fat removal is desired to numb it and reduce blood vessel size, minimizing blood loss. A small incision is made in the area before performing any type of liposuction.
Risks of Liposuction
Before opting for liposuction, it is crucial to consider the potential risks. These can include multiple injuries, blood clots, or bleeding, as well as possible scars and nerve damage. Liposuction can lead to increased fluid accumulation beneath the skin, discoloration, and burns. Additionally, there is a risk of toxic shock syndrome or bacterial infection, as well as inflammation of the connective tissue. It is important to note that weight gain after liposuction increases the likelihood of fat accumulation in the body.
